Needles to Sea is a craft project that aims to raise awareness of the Baltic Sea pollution and initiate a public debate on the consequences of neglecting the situation. International cooperation is needed to save the Baltic Sea from an environmental disaster.
The project has been created in collaboration with textile artists from countries surrounding the Baltic Sea. After a series of discussions, exchanging perspectives and sharing mutual inspirations, twelve embroideries have been created, reflecting the problems associated with the continual negligence of the Baltic Sea. Each embroidery is accompanied by a text expressing the artist's thoughts and emotions on the ecological situation of the region.
